European IV Therapy and Enteral
Nutrition Market
Increasing Incidence of Diseases Revives the
European IV Therapy and Enteral Nutrition Market
The European enteral nutrition and IV therapy
devices market is currently in its growth period; a phase that will continue for
at least another five years. The escalating incidence of diseases and the
expansion of aged population will strongly influence market growth. However,
reimbursement restrictions and strict regulations governing the materials used
in these devices will exert downward pressures.
Frost & Sullivan finds that the European Enteral
Nutrition Devices Market earned revenues of $ 290.0 million in 2005.
"The rising incidence of various diseases has
fuelled the need for IV therapy and enteral nutrition devices," notes Frost &
Sullivan Research Analyst Harini Subramani. "This trend has been positively
reinforced by the shift to the homecare segment and has resulted in significant
revenue growth."
However, declining prices constitute a major
challenge to sustained market expansion. Reimbursement regulations in some
European countries are also acting as a major restraint to revenue growth.
"The downward trend in prices is pressurising
manufacturers to devise strategic plans to boost their revenue," advises Ms.
Subramani. "Market participants can branch out into eastern Europe, which is not
as heavily regulated as western Europe and where the demand for these devices is
high."
